Before taking part in the London Marathon the longest distance Shivani had run was 14 miles. Her time was 05:45:04.

‘The Marathon was scary at first but amazing once you get there and are taking part. The best bit was the crowd and seeing people you know support you. The worst bit was the pain in my legs and getting hungry part of the way through! I did it to help QEF and make a difference. Would I do it again? Ask me when I have recovered!’

Chris has previously taken part in a fell race and a few half marathons. It was also his first London Marathon and he completed it in a time of 03:37:43.

‘The best bit was running over Tower Bridge, very iconic. That and the actual commute to the start line early Sunday morning, with the shared nods and smiles of fellow runners (identified by official red kit bags), all criss-crossing at the various underground stations. London was populated by friendly people for just a moment. The hardest bit was losing track of the distance and thinking I must be approaching home, then turning a corner to see the O2 Arena and realising we were still the very other end of London – and running AWAY from the finish line! Would I do it again? Yes, but differently. I also provisionally committed to one in Athens during my taxi ride home after the race…Blame it on a shortage of blood to my brain at the time.’
