LOM in primary school partnership for Open-City

For this year’s Open-City Architecture in Schools: Primary Programme, LOM will be partnering with Year Four from Harbinger Primary, a Docklands based school, to imagine a new bridge for London.

Taking inspiration from Heatherwick’s controversial Garden Bridge the students will explore how they would choose to inhabit a bridge and design what they would put on it.

The annual programme led by Open-City, London’s architecture charity, runs during the summer term for 8 to 11 year olds. Architecture practices are teamed up with schools to work on a project brief to teach pupils about the built environment and learn key skills in design and technology, maths and science. The programme includes a building exploration visit and class room model making workshop.

Last year over 750 pupils from 19 London wide schools participated, partnering with over 60 architects and built environment professionals.
