Kennet House

Transforming a disused office building to create a high quality residential development.

PROJECT:
Kennet House

CLIENT:
Crest Nicholson

LOCATION:
Reading

SECTOR:
|Residential

LOM worked with Crest Nicholson’s regeneration team, design team and planning consultants Foddy Consult to gain planning consent for the now completed transformation of a disused five storey office building in Reading, creating nine floors of residential accommodation.

Kennet House was a prominent 1960s office block on the waterside in central Reading which had fallen into disrepair and lay vacant. Crest Nicholson have extended and refurbished Kennet House as a high quality apartment building, providing 103 new homes for the community.

The conversion retains the existing concrete frame with a new external skin giving the building a new lease of life. Four additional storeys have been added, anchoring the prominent corner and creating apartments with great views across the River Kennet and beyond.
