The Heart Building, a flexible, people-focused work and collaboration environment designed by LOM for Tesco’s head office campus is one of this year’s Civic Trust Awards Regional Finalists and also has been shortlisted for the Selwyn Goldsmith Awards for Universal Design.
The Heart Building serves as a new ‘hub’, creating a focal point for employees working in nine other Tesco office buildings on the Shire Park campus. The building incorporates the Tesco Academy, an event space for 500 people, cafe and workspace, test kitchens and a state-of-the-art gym.
Winning schemes will be presented with their Civic Trust Award or Commendation at the 60th Annual Civic Trust Awards Ceremony on Friday 1st March 2019, at the Imperial War Museum North in Manchester.
The Civic Trust Awards scheme was established in 1959 to recognise outstanding architecture, planning and design in the built environment. The Awards aim to encourage the very best in architecture and environmental design, to improve the built environment through design, sustainability, inclusiveness and accessibility, and to reward projects that offer a positive cultural, social, economic or environmental benefit to their local communities.
